BJP Leader Anurag Thakur Compares Sunita Kejriwal to Rabri Devi Amidst Arvind Kejriwal’s Arrest

In a recent development following Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s arrest, BJP leader and Union Minister Anurag Thakur stirred controversy by drawing comparisons between Sunita Kejriwal, Arvind Kejriwal’s wife, and Rabri Devi, the wife of former Bihar CM Lalu Prasad Yadav. Thakur’s remarks came during a Jammu rally where he expressed his views to news agency ANI.

Thakur likened Sunita Kejriwal’s public appearances and statements regarding her husband’s arrest to Rabri Devi’s involvement in governance during Lalu Prasad Yadav’s legal entanglements. He remarked that like Rabri Devi, Sunita is gradually asserting herself and may eventually seek the Chief Minister’s chair.

Drawing parallels to past political scandals, Thakur lambasted Arvind Kejriwal over his arrest in connection with a money-laundering case linked to Delhi’s excise policy. He criticized Kejriwal for purportedly straying from ethical principles he once championed, citing the AAP’s officials’ incarcerations in various cases, including ministers and MPs.

Thakur also questioned Kejriwal’s resolve and political integrity, highlighting the irony of his previous protests against corruption and his current legal predicament. He accused Kejriwal of clinging to power despite being embroiled in allegations, labeling him as ‘Kattar Be-Imaan’ (stubbornly dishonest).

Moreover, Thakur challenged AAP workers protesting Kejriwal’s arrest, questioning their allegiance given Kejriwal’s past confrontations with the Congress party and his current situation. He insinuated that Kejriwal’s arrest was indicative of political posturing rather than genuine reformist ideals, characterizing it as ‘showoff’ politics.

Thakur’s remarks have added fuel to the ongoing political firestorm surrounding Kejriwal’s arrest and the subsequent fallout within the AAP. The comparisons drawn between Sunita Kejriwal and Rabri Devi underscore the complexity and intensity of political dynamics in India, where familial involvement and power transitions are often scrutinized and debated fervently.
